PREP SOCCER ROUNDUP : Boyce’s 5 Goals Help Corona del Mar Reach Quarterfinals

Jason Boyce scored five goals to help Corona del Mar to a 7-0 victory over San Marcos in the second round of the Marina tournament Monday at Marina High School.
Boyce, a senior forward, scored three times in the first half for Corona del Mar (6-0-2), which moved into the quarterfinals. Eric Olsen scored the only goal as Corona del Mar beat Pasadena Muir, 1-0, in the first round.

In other Marina tournament games:
Dana Hills 2, Fullerton 1--Micah Dennison scored two goals and Josh Ingertson had three saves to lead Dana Hills (6-2). The Dolphins will face host Marina in the quarterfinals at 10:30 a.m. today.
Villa Park 2, Loara 1--Jeff Szekeres scored twice for Villa Park (5-2-3), which advanced to the quarterfinals.
Mater Dei 3, Huntington Beach 1--Kevin Quigley scored the game-winning goal in the second half to complete the comeback for Mater Dei (8-0-3) in consolation play. Ryan Chaput and Olivier Rossi also scored for the Monarchs.

In the Orange tournament:
Trabuco Hills 1, Orange 1 (Trabuco Hills wins shootout, 4-3)--Chris Sena scored once and Todd Abdalla had 11 saves to lead Trabuco Hills (4-4-3) in the first round.
Hugo Regalado scored once for Orange. Trabuco Hills faces Bishop Montgomery in the quarterfinals at 11:20 a.m. today.

In the Foothill Excalibur girls’ tournament:
Capistrano Valley 9, Long Beach Millikan 0--Kim McKay and Kelley Skeen each scored three goals for the Cougars (8-2). Each scored once as Capistrano Valley beat Foothill, 3-0, in the second round.
Santa Margarita 5, North Torrance 1--Kayie Flynn scored the game-winning goal early in the second half to lead Santa Margarita (4-2-1).

In the Ocean View tournament:
Ocean View 4, Lakewood St. Joseph 0--Kim Engesser scored three goals for Ocean View (8-2-1), which moved into the quarterfinals. Engesser, a junior forward, had three goals as Ocean View beat Whittier, 9-0, earlier Monday.
Laguna Hills 3, Arcadia 0--Sarah Lang’s sixth shutout of the year helped Laguna Hills (6-2-3) upset Arcadia (6-4-2), ranked No. 1 in Division 2-A. Nicole Restivo, Sondra Carlson and Carrie Geyer scored.
