Alexander’s Restaurant Being Sold to Renaissance

Alexander’s, a landmark restaurant here, is in the process of changing hands.

After 14 years, owners Pamela and Alexander McGeary say they want to sell so they can devote more time to the vineyard they have owned for four years, Shadow Mountain, in San Diego County.

The buyer is Renaissance Associates, which owns Renaissance cafes in Laguna Beach and Brea and Renaissance Coffee in Tustin.

“I love the location” of Alexander’s, said Darrel Anderson, chairman of Renaissance Associates in Newport Beach. “It lends itself to what we like to do,” which is “coffee, culture and cuisine,” he says.

Anderson said it is too early to discuss what changes he might make in Dana Point. The deal is not scheduled to close until early February.

Alexander’s, at 24701 del Prado Ave., was known until recently as the Old Dana Point Cafe. It seats 75 indoors and up to 75 on its patio.
