The body of a woman who was strangled and then dumped in a remote area near Moorpark has been identified as that of 20-year-old Mika C. Bissett of Venice.

Los Angeles Police Lt. John Rogers said Michael Dubov, who was staying with Bissett, has confessed to strangling her Dec. 14 in Bissett’s apartment in the 5300 block of Knowlton Street in Venice.

Dubov has been booked in jail in Los Angeles on suspicion of murder and is being held on $1 million bail.

Rogers said Dubov waited several days after he strangled Bissett, then drove the body to Ventura County and dumped it on a brush-covered embankment along a dirt road off Gabbert Road.

Dubov had reported Bissett missing Dec. 20, Rogers said. During an interview with detectives Wednesday, Dubov confessed to the killing and led detectives to the body.

Rogers said Bissett was a student and that her mother lives in Orange County.
