The body of a woman who was strangled and then dumped in a remote area near Moorpark has been identified as 20-year-old Mika C. Bissett, a former Cypress resident.

Michael Dubov, who was staying with Bissett, has confessed to strangling her Dec. 14 in Bissett’s Venice apartment, Los Angeles Police Lt. John Rogers said.

Dubov has been booked into jail in Los Angeles on suspicion of murder and is being held on $1 million bail.

Rogers said Dubov waited several days after he strangled her, then drove the body to Ventura County and dumped it on a brush-covered embankment along a dirt road off Gabbert Road.

Dubov had reported Bissett missing Dec. 20, Rogers said. During an interview with detectives on Wednesday, Dubov confessed to the killing and led detectives to the body.

Rogers said Bissett was a student whose mother lives in Orange County. According to voter registration records, the young woman had lived in Cypress with her parents as recently as 1992.
