FULLERTON : Woman Settles Suit Against Matchmaker

Share

A 72-year-old Fullerton woman has settled her lawsuit against a matchmaker who paired her with men who she claimed were “beyond life expectancy” or a generation too young.

In a lawsuit filed in Superior Court, Ethel Ashley alleged that Orly Hadida, owner of Orly’s Personal Touch Matchmaker, failed to honor a one-year, $10,000 VIP contract to provide her with unlimited referrals to men who earned more than $500,000 a year and were available for marriage.

The lawsuit, filed in October, stated that Ashley had four dates in five months and that the men were too young or too old and did not make the required salary. It alleged breach of contract and sought $200,000 in damages.

“I have resolved my dispute with Orly Hadida and I withdraw any complaints” against her, Ashley wrote in a statement announcing the settlement. The terms of the settlement are confidential.

Daryl Hansen, attorney for Hadida, said the settlement “will allow both parties to get on with their lives.”

The matchmaker, whose business has been featured in newspapers and on television talk shows, has an office in Newport Beach and others in Southern California.
