SHERMAN OAKS : Nancy Schmidt to Lead Chamber in ’94

A Sherman Oaks bank vice president who is a veteran San Fernando Valley business leader has been elected president of the Sherman Oaks Chamber of Commerce.

Nancy Schmidt will take over from outgoing chamber President Jeff Brain, who did not seek reelection, Jan. 18.

Schmidt, president of the San Fernando Valley Charitable Foundation and a member of the North Hollywood Rotary Club and Valley Industry and Commerce Assn., said she will use those connections to build chamber membership.

“The more organizations you know and belong to, the better you can help the whole group network,” Schmidt said. “That’s what I am going to try to do.”

Schmidt also anticipates playing the role of cheerleader to businesses rebounding from the recession by launching a marketing campaign to revitalize business and through a series of luncheon speeches.

“She’ll be good for the chamber,” Brain said of the president-elect. “And she’s going to have lots of good people around her.”

The 1994 officers and board of directors will be installed at the chamber’s annual recognition and installation dinner at the Sportsmen’s Lodge in Studio City.

Others elected to the chamber’s executive board were Brain, Barry Wegman, Kathleen Holland, Scott Sandefur, Scott Tripp, Ron Mitnick, Carrie Konjoyan and Judy Davis.
