NFL PLAYOFFS / NOTES : AFC PLAYOFFS : McGlockton Has a Broken Leg

Chester McGlockton’s season came to an abrupt end Sunday when the Raider defensive tackle was injured on the Denver Broncos’ first offensive play from scrimmage.

McGlockton suffered a broken leg when the Broncos’ Brian Habib threw a cut block while Denver center Keith Kartz double-teamed McGlockton.

McGlockton watched the second half of the game with crutches and did not want to make any comment on the play in which he was injured.

“I’m just glad that we got the win,” said McGlockton, who has not talked to reporters all season. “I’ll be back.”

Raider tailback Tyrone Montgomery made his first pro start and finished with 50 yards rushing in 15 carries and three receptions for 29 yards.

Not bad for a player who had not played an entire game at tailback since he was in seventh grade.

Montgomery, a younger brother of former NFL running backs Wilbert and Cle, was a wide receiver with the Raiders last season and throughout his college career at Mississippi and was a wingback in high school.

“This was the most I’ve ever been hit,” said Montgomery, who had a large red bruise on his back. “But, the win is so much greater than the pain.”
