Leon T. David, who retired from the Los Angeles Superior Court in 1967, died Saturday in Walnut Creek. He was 92 and had lived in Northern California for several years.
A 30-year resident of Los Angeles, David had served 18 years in various court levels in Southern California, having been appointed to the Municipal Court by Gov. Earl Warren in 1950.
A stickler for punctuality and courtroom decorum, David once fined himself $10 for showing up 10 minutes late to his own bench.
He also had been an assistant city attorney in Los Angeles and served as an appellate court judge in Contra Costa County after retiring.
During World War II, David was an Army colonel with responsibility for special services in the Mediterranean theater.
David, a 1929 graduate of the Stanford Law School, also had taught public administration at USC.
