CAMARILLO : Council to Consider Rebuilding Span
The Camarillo City Council will tonight consider approving plans to rebuild the congested Carmen Drive-Ventura Freeway interchange.
Under an agreement with Caltrans, the city would finance about 60% of the $11-million project, which includes a new, wider bridge spanning the Ventura Freeway, widened, redesigned north and south on- and off-ramps, and traffic signals, said Dan Greeley, city director of engineering services.
Caltrans would pick up the balance of the long-awaited project on the 25-year-old interchange.
The first phase of the project, which involves construction of the new overpass, could start as early as this fall, Greeley said. Completion of the overpass is expected in about a year’s time.
The council will consider the matter during the meeting at City Hall, 601 Carmen Drive, starting at 5 p.m.
