Damon Stoudamire said that all he did to break out of a two-game scoring slump was return to basics.

It paid off in a 27-point performance Thursday night, helping 13th-ranked Arizona defeat Oregon, 98-86, at Tucson.

Stoudamire came in with a 17.6-point average but had scored only nine points against UCLA and four against USC last week.

Arizona, 15-3 overall and 4-2 in the Pacific 10 Conference, made 26 of 38 free throws; Oregon (6-9, 2-4) made nine of 13.

Arizona State 88, Oregon State 82--Stevin Smith scored a career-high 39 points and tied his own Pac-10 record by making 10 three-point shots to lead the Sun Devils (9-6, 4-2) at Tempe, Ariz.

Arizona State made 76.9% of its shots in the first half as Smith made seven of eight three-point shots.
