An injured ankle has hampered Castillo and kept his scoring average (11.8 points) lower than expected. But two weeks ago, he scored 23 points in a narrow loss to Magnolia and last week he led the Colonists to their first league victories of the season. Wednesday, he scored 25 points, including 17 of 22 free throws, in a 54-50 victory over Brea-Olinda. Friday, he scored 23 points and made the game-winning shot with four seconds left in a 51-49 victory over Valencia, knocking the Tigers out of a first-place tie.

Other notables:

* Antonio Diaz, Santiago, scored once in a victory over Garden Grove and once a tie with Bolsa Grande that gave the Cavaliers a second consecutive league title.

* Brad Finneran, Santa Margarita, scored 26 points, including a basket with two seconds left in a 41-39 victory over Newport Harbor.

* Todd Sand, Troy had 16 points, including three key three-pointers, in a victory over Sonora and had 19 in a victory over Buena Park.

* Dustin White, University, scored 35 points, including nine three-pointers, in a 72-59 victory over Saddleback.
