Roosevelt 55, South Gate 50--Leona Jacobs hit a baseline jump shot with 18 seconds left to to give the Roughriders a 53-50 lead and Denise Caudillo stole an inbounds pass with four seconds left to preserve the Southeastern Conference victory Friday at Roosevelt.

South Gate trailed 42-37 with six minutes to play, but rallied to go ahead 46-45 on a layup by Myrna Arreola with 4:34 left. Roosevelt responded by scoring 10 of the final 14 points, securing the win on a pair of free throws by Zenobia Tyson Hunt for a 51-48 lead with 1:03 left.

Caudillo scored 16 points and Hunt had 13 for Roosevelt. Ruby Maciel finished with a game-high 24 points and Arreola added 12 for South Gate.
