COLLEGE ROUNDUP : Canyons Beats Harbor on a Walkover, 7-6

Scott Minkler drew a bases-loaded walk with two out in the 10th inning to give College of the Canyons a 7-6 victory over Harbor in a nonconference game Tuesday at Wilmington.

J.T. Billingslea’s three-run home run in the sixth gave Canyons (3-0) a 5-2 lead. Harbor tied it, 6-6, with two runs in the eighth.

R.J. Fenolio and Ari Jacobs each had three hits for Canyons.

Cal Lutheran 8, Concordia 4--A six-run second inning, fueled by two-run singles from Ray Arvizu and Scott Sebbo, helped the Kingsmen (4-1) to a nonconference victory at Thousand Oaks.

Sam Arroyo (1-0) pitched three innings for the victory.

The Master’s 7, CS San Bernardino 6--Matt Henzie’s one-out, bases-loaded double drove in two runs in the eighth to propel the Mustangs to victory in the nonconference game at Newhall.

Henzie had two hits and drove in three runs for Master’s (3-4).

Antelope Valley 8, Ventura 7--Catcher Jack Cox hit a solo home run in the bottom of the seventh to give the Marauders a 7-6 lead and they held on for a nonconference victory at Antelope Valley (4-1).

Pirate center fielder Jamal Nichols went three for four, drove in three runs and stole three bases.

Brandon Yount went three for three, including a home run and a double, scored twice and drove in three runs for the Marauders.

Valley 8, L.A. City 8--The Cubs scored five runs in the top of the ninth inning to tie the nonconference game, 8-8, and the game was called due to darkness in the 11th at Valley (1-4-1.

SOFTBALL

Antelope Valley 4-0, El Camino 0-2--Heather Myer (1-0) pitched a two-hitter and Jody Snelling had four hits and three RBIs to lead Antelope Valley (1-1) to victory in the first game of the nonconference doubleheader at Torrance.

The Marauders were held to three hits in the second game.

WOMEN’S BASKETBALL

The Master’s 63, Whittier 49--Deb Prociw had 29 points, five rebounds, four assists and four steals for the Mustangs in a nonconference game at Newhall.

Prociw hit 11 of 19 shots, including six of 10 from three-point range, for Master’s (5-15).

Kim DeVries added 19 points and 17 rebounds for the Mustangs.

Occidental 75, Cal Lutheran 66--Diana Cortez and Kelli McCaskill each scored 17 points as the Regals (6-13) dropped a SCIAC game at Occidental.

COLLEGE SWIMMING

Pacific Collegiate Swimming Conference championships--Freshman Dawn Burton and sophomore Sara Cassady gave Cal State Northridge a one-two finish in the women’s three-meter diving event at Belmont Plaza in Long Beach.

Burton totaled 494.60 points and Cassady had 437.15.
