Back-to-back robberies at Bank of America branches on Friday may have been the work of one man, police said.

The branch at 3475 Via Lido was robbed about 1:15 p.m. of an unknown amount of money, Newport Beach Police Sgt. Andy Gonis said. A gunman walked in, confronted a teller and demanded cash.

Thirty-five minutes later, the branch at 3300 E. Coast Highway was hit, also by a lone gunman, who escaped with an unknown amount of money, Gonis said. In that robbery, the gunman confronted several tellers simultaneously.

Witnesses of each robbery described the suspect as a white man with a mustache who was wearing a jacket and a baseball cap, Gonis said.

No one was injured in either incident, and no shots were fired, Gonis said.
