COLLEGE ROUNDUP : Pacific Christian One Victory From Nationals

Charlie Ross scored 33 points and Eric Bajus 29 as Pacific Christian defeated Simpson, 133-89, Friday and advanced to the regional final in the National Christian College Athletic Assn. men’s basketball tournament.

A victory over San Jose Christian tonight at 8 would send Pacific Christian to the national finals in Springfield, Mo.

Jarod Beldon led Simpson (9-15) with 27 points.

In nonconference women’s basketball:

Chapman 72, Biola 66--Visiting Chapman had four scorers in double figures, led by Heidi Sorour, who finished with 20 points. Melody Earle scored 15 points, Tiffany Fest 14 and Jolee Lautaret 12 points and 12 rebounds for the Panthers.

In nonconference baseball:

Titans rained out--Foul weather forced Cal State Fullerton to postpone Friday night’s game with Cal State Northridge. It will be played Monday at 1 p.m. at Fullerton

The two teams will also play this afternoon at 1 at Northridge and Sunday at 1 p.m. at Fullerton.

In Pacific Coast Conference women’s gymnastics:

Stanford 190.175, Cal State Fullerton 189.90--Despite Fullerton’s Celeste Delia finishing first in individual all-around with 39.075 points, No. 15 Stanford (4-5) won the team event. Fullerton is 1-3.

In men’s nonconference tennis:

Stanford 4, UC Irvine 0--Unbeaten Stanford won four singles matches to clinch the victory. UCI is 3-3.

In nonconference women’s tennis:

San Diego State 5, UC Irvine 1--Shawn Egan recorded the only victory of the day for Irvine (3-4), defeating her No. 4 single’s opponent, 6-1, 6-2. San Diego State is 2-5.
