Southwestern 76, Moorpark 73--Sixth-seeded Moorpark rallied from a 12-point second-half deficit and had a chance to tie with 10 seconds remaining, but Sean Martin’s three-point shot fell short in a second-round Southern California regional game.

Paul Foster led Moorpark with 17 points and Martin added 15. Rod Stinson (12 points) and Jaime Jaquez (10) also scored in double figures for Moorpark (24-9).

Chaffey 85, Canyons 77--Despite having four starters score in double figures, the Cougars (15-17) proved to be no match for Chaffey (30-5) in a Southern California regional playoff game at Ontario.

Kwesi Fulton had 18 points and 10 rebounds for Canyons. Bryan Camacho added 17 points, Alric Gillette had 14 and Randy Eason contributed 10 points and eight assists.

BASEBALL

Northwood 14, The Master’s 12--The Mustangs (5-7-2) blew a five-run lead over the final four innings in a nonconference game at Master’s.

Matt Henzie went three for five with five runs batted in, including a grand slam that gave Master’s a 12-7 lead in the fifth.

L.A. City 5, Mission 2--John Toven had two hits and Francisco Flores added two hits and a two-run double for Mission in a Southern California Conference game at L.A. City.

MEN’S TENNIS

Cal Lutheran 8, Occidental 1--Graduate student Tony Cohen, an All-American for Cal Lutheran in 1990, defeated Occidental’s Pete Bassett, 6-2, 6-1, in No. 1 singles to key the victory in a Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference match.
