OUTLOOK

Chapman paid his dues for several years as the junior varsity coach at La Quinta and an assistant varsity coach at Dana Hills. He will learn the joys and hardships of building a program from scratch in his first season as a varsity head coach. “This is going to be a good learning experience,” Chapman said. “Being a new school and a new program, we have a lot of things to figure out. It’s going to take some time, but we’ll get there.” The Wolverines are without a home playing field and a league this season. Aliso Niguel will become a member of the Pacific Coast League in 1995. Until then, however, Chapman said scheduling games will be difficult. “It’s been a nightmare finding games. I wish we had more, but we’ll just have to learn as much as possible with the ones we could get.” Chapman was pleased when more than 100 students attended tryouts for the varsity and lower-level teams. Redwan and Shea figure to be the top players this season.
