Kelly McKay
SCHOOL: Alemany
SPORT: Basketball
YEAR: Junior
SEASON AT A GLANCE: The 5-foot-7 shooting guard has been the unsung player for the Southern Section Division II-A champions, averaging 13 points and five steals a game.
WEEK AT A GLANCE: McKay led Alemany with 17 points in a 49-46 victory over San Bernardino in the section final Saturday. She made a layup to tie the score, 43-43, late in the fourth quarter and scored nine of Alemany’s final 19 points in the frantic second half. “I think Kelly is our key ingredient,” Coach Melissa Hearlihy said. “She does all the little things, but she’s more than a role player.” McKay also contributed six rebounds, two assists and two steals.
