COLLEGE BASEBALL ROUNDUP : Vail, Smith Each Drive in 4 as The Master’s Romps, 15-4

Steve Smith and Mark Vail each drove in four runs for The Master’s College in a 15-4 nonconference victory over visiting Southern California College on Thursday.

Smith had four hits, including two doubles, and Vail had three hits. Jeff Terrell had three hits, including two doubles, and Chris Beck (2-2) scattered seven hits and struck out 11 to earn the victory for Master’s (6-10-2).

Glendale 15, Canyons 9--Glendale freshman third baseman Chris Padron capped an eight-run sixth inning with a grand slam in a Western State Conference game.

Freshman Randy Vickers went two for three for host Glendale (6-7, 4-1 in conference play) with three RBIs, including his seventh home run.

Teammate Lance Evans was three for five with four RBIs and his second home run.

Pierce 15, Valley 6--Lou Tapia was five for five with three doubles, three RBIs and three runs in a WSC game at Pierce.

Adam West (2-3) pitched a complete game, striking out 11, and hit a three-run home run and a single for Pierce (7-7, 3-2).

Santa Barbara 6, Ventura 5--Two wild pitches in the ninth inning led to the winning run in a WSC game at Santa Barbara.

David Frazier hit a double for Ventura (10-6, 1-3).

Cuesta 7, Moorpark 6--Harvey Gamboa gave up three runs to visiting Moorpark in the first inning, then hit a grand slam in the bottom half to lead Cuesta in a WSC game. The Raiders scored three runs in the ninth off and left the tying run on third.

Chaffey 7, Antelope Valley 3--Ryan Branch went two for five, including a triple, for Antelope Valley (8-4, 2-2) in a Foothill Conference game at Chaffey.
