STUDIO CITY : 5 Groups to Host Fund-Raiser in May
Five local organizations are pooling their efforts to put on a series of community fund-raisers in May.
The purpose of the event, to be called Celebrate Studio City, is to raise money for community causes, particularly for earthquake recovery. In the past, the organizations have held their fund-raisers independently.
“We finally decided that we really ought to work together to get some joint publicity and to encourage people in the area to support all of the events,” said Sondra Frohlich, executive director of the Studio City Chamber of Commerce. “It’s exciting and it’s sort of flying by the seat of our pants as we haven’t done something like this in the past.”
Celebrate Studio City will feature a chili cook-off, a quake safety seminar for homeowners, a school carnival, an arts festival, a 10K run, and a prize drawing for a $15,000 sculpture.
