COMMUNITY COLLEGE BASEBALL : Rancho Santiago Wins With Two Runs in Sixth

Rancho Santiago scored two runs in the sixth to break a tie and went on to a 5-2 victory over Golden West in an Orange Empire Conference baseball game Thursday at Golden West.

Joe Fraser was hit by a pitch with the bases loaded and two outs in the sixth to give Rancho Santiago a 3-2 lead. David Mallas then had an RBI bunt single for the Dons (19-5, 6-3 in conference).

Micah Stovall (4-2) pitched eight innings for the victory. Steve Rewald got three strikeouts in the ninth for his second save.

Phil Ruhl had a two-run single for Golden West (10-12, 4-7).

In other conference games:

Cypress 9, Fullerton 6--Eric Stevens had four hits, including a home run, and drove in four runs for visiting Cypress (20-5, 7-2). It marks the 10th consecutive time that Cypress has won at least 20 games in a season under Coach Scott Pickler.

Augie Ojeda, Andy Gonzales and Dave Trentine had two hits each for the Chargers, who scored two runs in the sixth to take a 7-6 lead.

Fullerton is 10-12, 5-6.

Saddleback 9, Orange Coast 5--Dennis Crine had nine strikeouts and allowed two runs in the complete-game victory for host Saddleback (12-7, 7-4).

Wade Jackson had two doubles and drove in five runs for the Gauchos. He had a three-run double in the eighth.

Ryan Sunderman had two hits and drove in two runs for Orange Coast (3-16, 0-11).
