Chevalier Again Selected CSUN Most Valuable Player

Andre Chevalier, Cal State Northridge’s all-time leading scorer, was named the most valuable player for the second year in a row at the basketball team’s awards ceremony this week.

The 6-foot senior guard averaged 14.9 points a game and 5.4 assists while making 81.5% of his free throws this season. He scored 38 points against San Diego State in his final game to set the school record of 1,311 points. He also is Northridge’s career leader with 481 assists, 184 steals and 396 free throws.

Senior guard Brooklyn McLinn received the team’s defensive player of the year award, senior Brent Lofton was named the most improved player and senior Chris Yard received the Coaches’ Award.

Track and Field

The Northridge Invitational, scheduled for Saturday at Cal State Northridge, has been postponed until Sunday due to the weather. The schedule for the meet will remain the same, with the first event starting at 9 a.m.
