Cory Snyder, sidelined all spring with back and rib cage injuries, made his spring debut in a minor league game Sunday, and homered.

Snyder, who has seen his right field job seized by rookie Raul Mondesi while Snyder recovered from the injuries, has not yet appeared with the major league team and is not scheduled to travel to Ft. Lauderdale today for the Dodgers’ game against the New York Yankees.

“Probably the most frustrating part is not even getting a chance to fight for the job,” Snyder said Sunday. “I know I had two good seasons and I felt that it was my job to lose.

“You get injured, he goes out and has a good spring, and that was it. It happened.”

Snyder, who hopes to play a utility role for the Dodgers similar to the one he played for the Giants two years ago, said he plans on being ready for opening day.

In the Dodgers’ 4-3 loss to the Atlanta Braves and John Smoltz at Vero Beach, Fla., Mondesi had his nine-game hitting streak ended. But Mondesi recorded two more assists from right field Sunday, including an impressive throw from the right-center wall that caught Tony Tarasco trying to slide in for a double. The other assist came on a bloop that landed in front of Mondesi, who threw to force out Terry Pendleton going from first to second. . . . The team announced that it will bring 38 players west for the beginning of the Freeway Series--33 of the players working with the major league team (including rookie pitchers Chan Ho Park and Darren Dreifort) and five players who will make the trip to Los Angeles before heading to their minor league assignments. . . . Left-handed reliever Drew Hall was reassigned from the major league camp to the minor league camp.
