Charlie Ward, the Heisman Trophy winner from Florida State, had 13 points, seven assists and seven rebounds and was named most valuable player in leading the East to a 77-73 victory over the West at the 32nd annual NABC All-Star game at Charlotte. The West got 13 points and 12 rebounds from USC’s Mark Boyd and 15 points from UCLA’s Shon Tarver. . . . Win Case, who led Oklahoma City to the NAIA Division I championship this season, was placed on one year’s probation by the university after he was arrested in North Carolina and charged with trying to scalp Final Four tickets.
