SPECIAL TO THE TIMES

Bell catcher Jose Lopez was battered and bruised but he managed to get in the last lick.

Lopez, suffering from a sprained ankle and sore forearm, hit the game-winning RBI single in the bottom of the 16th inning to give Bell a 7-6 Southeastern Conference win Thursday at home.

“With all the bad things that happened to me during the game, it felt good to make the winning hit,” Lopez said.

Lopez drove in Frank Montero from third base after Montero singled and advanced on a two-base fielding error by Roosevelt right fielder Elio Zavala.
