Cal Lutheran to Face UC San Diego in Division III Playoffs
Cal Lutheran earned a berth in the best-of-five NCAA Division III West Region baseball championships against UC San Diego. The series will begin Friday at UC San Diego.
The Kingsmen (29-6-1, 20-2 in conference play) were selected to the series despite losing to Pomona-Pitzer in the final of the Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference tournament final last Sunday.
The series consists of one game on Friday, a doubleheader Saturday, and the final two games, if necessary, on May 22.
The winner of the series will advance to the eight-team Division III national championships in Battle Creek, Mich., on May 26-31.
Cal Lutheran is ranked seventh nationally in Division III and defeated the Tritons, three games to one, in the 1992 playoffs, the last time the two teams met in the postseason.
