The roof caved in on Bell Gardens when Fontana scored eight runs in the fourth en route to a 14-8 Southern Section Division I victory Friday at Veterans Stadium in the City of Commerce.

The Lancers led 2-0 on consecutive squeeze bunts by Bill Barajas and Alex Castillo in the third inning.

Fontana responded with eight runs off Barajas in the fourth, led by Paul Orabona's bases-loaded triple. Orabona went three for four with four runs batted in. Four of Fontana's runs in the inning were unearned.

Pete Loza relieved Barajas in the fifth after Barajas had given up 11 runs.

The Lancers mounted a small comeback with one run in the fourth and two runs in the fifth. With the bases loaded in the sixth, Loza drove in a run on a fielder's choice at second. The Lancers scored again on a passed ball. Manuel Aranas' single drove in the third run to make the score 14-8, but he was thrown out at second trying to stretch the hit into a double.
