A 19-year-old Oakland man was fatally shot as he sat in his car outside a Sun Valley apartment building, Los Angeles police said Monday.

Patrol officers who were responding Sunday to a report of gunshots found Everado Loza slumped over in his car, which was parked at an apartment complex in the 7000 block of Bakman Avenue, said LAPD Detective Mike Coffey. Loza was pronounced dead at the scene by paramedics about 9:30 p.m. He had been shot several times in the upper torso, Coffey said.

Loza, who had recently moved to Oakland, was visiting relatives in Sun Valley, police said.

Investigators are unsure as to why Loza was at the apartment building where he was shot and know of no motive for the attack, Coffey said. No arrests had been made as of late Monday.
