CLAREMONT: A bomb threat was reported at 9:20 a.m. Thursday at the Little Caesar’s pizza restaurant at 336 S. Indian Hill Blvd. Employees reporting to work found painted writing on the window and door of the restaurant warning them to be careful opening the safe. Bomb squad personnel found no bomb.

EL MONTE: A 19-year-old Rosemead woman returning to her car from church services Sunday was the victim of an alleged carjacking and kidnaping. The woman, who was not identified by police, said she had attended evening Mass at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church at 11547 Iris Lane and was returning to her 1989 Thunderbird when she was confronted by a man armed with a handgun. He allegedly forced the woman into the passenger seat and drove away, ordering the woman to get out a short time later. After a pursuit on the San Bernardino (10) Freeway, California Highway Patrol officers arrested Eric Moore, 25, of Los Angeles. He was booked at El Monte city jail on suspicion of armed robbery, carjacking and kidnaping.

EL MONTE: An El Monte man has been declared brain dead after his girlfriend’s former boyfriend allegedly shot at him and caused him to fall on his head. Jose De Macias, 23, of El Monte is on life support systems at County-USC Medical Center, and Enrique Delacruz, 39, of Fontana is being held at El Monte city jail without bail on suspicion of murder. De Macias and a passenger, Anulfo Figueroa, 26, of La Puente, were driving east in the 11200 block of Dodson Street around 12:15 a.m. Sunday. A gunman who had been hiding in the back of the van suddenly appeared and began shooting, deputies said. De Macias jumped out of the van and hit his head on the pavement. He was not hit by gunfire. Figueroa was shot in the left arm and ran away. Figueroa was listed in fair condition at County-USC on Tuesday.

LA VERNE: A Glendora man who violated a restraining order allegedly tried to run over a police officer June 1 with his Kawasaki motorcycle after police pursued him on foot. Thomas Harold Mobeck, 31, is being held in the county jail on suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon on a police officer, resisting arrest and violation of a restraining order, police said. He was taken to county jail for observation after the incident on Price Drive.

PASADENA: Police made 11 arrests at a World Cup soccer exhibition game Saturday at the Rose Bowl. A sellout crowd of 91,000 packed the stadium to see Mexico play the United States. Two people were arrested for public drunkenness, eight for ticket scalping and one for gambling. The first World Cup 1994 game will be played at the Rose Bowl on June 18.

POMONA: Police are searching for the owner of a medium-blue 1978 Datsun B-210 station wagon that hit a 2-year-old Pomona boy last week and did not stop. Trevon Labert Mitchell suffered head injuries, including a fractured skull, after he dashed in front of the car June 2. He is listed in critical condition at Loma Linda University Medical Center, police said. Trevon was walking home with a group of children on the sidewalk along westbound Holt Avenue about 6:40 p.m. The children called out for an adult to help them cross the street, and the boy’s aunt, who was on the other side of the street, went to assist them. As the rest of the group walked to the crosswalk, Trevon ran into traffic.

POMONA: Police recovered about half a pound of methamphetamine, valued at more than $16,000, at a home in the 500 block of Lincoln Avenue on Friday. Officers served a search warrant after undercover officers bought methamphetamine, or “speed,” from people at that address. Daniel Allen, 34, David Abernathy, 25, and Linda Pearson, 26, all of Pomona, were taken to Pomona City Jail and booked on suspicion of possession of methamphetamine for sale. A fourth suspect, Fidel Hernandez, 22, a transient, arrived while officers were still inside. He was found to be in possession of a quarter-pound of the drug. He was also taken to Pomona City Jail and booked on suspicion of possession of methamphetamine for sale.

POMONA: An 18-year-old man was in extremely critical condition Tuesday after being shot Monday night in his car. Bruce Haywood of Pomona was found lying in the front seat of his car at 12th and Main streets about 6:30 p.m., police said. He was taken to Pomona Valley Hospital Medical Center, where he underwent emergency surgery. Witnesses said Haywood was shot with a handgun by male suspects who drove alongside him in a small blue truck. The investigation is continuing.

SAN DIMAS: A 4-year-old girl was killed and eight people were injured when a La Verne motorist allegedly ran a red light and hit two other cars about 7:50 p.m. Monday. Angela Sundharawipata of Azusa was riding in her family’s car with her father, mother and younger sister when the accident occurred. She was pronounced dead at San Dimas Community Hospital a short while later, sheriff’s deputies said. Angela had been secured in a seat belt at the time of the accident. The driver of the car, Farah Kia, 39, apparently went through a red light at the southbound off-ramp of the Foothill (210) Freeway, deputies said. The injured people were treated at local hospitals and released.

VALINDA: A Whittier caretaker was electrocuted Tuesday night after he pried open an electrical transformer, sheriff’s deputies said. Richard Freyre Jr., 28, was killed about 7:45 p.m. outside a commercial building under construction at 18421 Valley Blvd., where he was employed as a night caretaker, deputies said. The electrocution caused a brief power failure in 1,640 homes. Freyre inadvertently tapped into a live wire, deputies said. They did not know why Freyre pried open the transformer.
