GLENDALE : City Employee Faces Hearing in Theft Case

Share

A nine-year Glendale city employee who allegedly stole $50,000 worth of electronic equipment from the city is scheduled to appear for a preliminary hearing July 21 in Glendale Municipal Court.

Gerald Paul Darby, 42, was arrested last week after a monthlong police investigation following a tip from the facilities manager in the Communications Services Section where Darby worked.

Police seized two-way police radios, computer equipment and several 35-millimeter and video cameras June 2 from Darby’s Pasadena home after serving a search warrant.

Darby, who authorities believe had stolen and hoarded the equipment in his residence for seven years, was released on his own recognizance after he was booked at Glendale City Jail on suspicion of felony burglary and grand theft.

He has been suspended from his city job as a radio repairman with pay while city officials conduct a separate investigation into the incident.
