Harris Says He Will Keep Lakers’ Staff

New Laker Coach Del Harris said Wednesday that he will retain assistants Bill Bertka, Michael Cooper and Larry Drew on the staff for next season.

All worked for former coach Magic Johnson, and Bertka and Drew were on the staff of Randy Pfund, who was fired last season.

Bertka will enter his 14th season as a Laker assistant and has 22 seasons as an assistant in the NBA. No active assistant has been around longer in that role.

Cooper joined the staff when Johnson was named to replace Pfund.

Drew spent 10 seasons as an NBA player and has two seasons as an assistant coach.
