COMING UP ROSES: The Pink Floyd shows at the Rose Bowl in April brought a lot of complaints about parking hassles and jammed aisles and tunnels at the stadium--the loudest complaints coming from Brian Murphy, president of the concerts’ promoter, Avalon Attractions.

Now Murphy says that the problems have been dealt with for the scheduled October shows by the Eagles and the Rolling Stones. At his insistence, shuttle service from outlying parking lots will be increased and parking and usher staffs are being boosted for the shows.

Eagles manager Irving Azoff adds that there will be some “tailgate party” type events planned for before the show to lure fans to the site early in order to spread out the traffic.

Both point to the relatively smooth handling of traffic and parking at the World Cup soccer games currently being held at the Rose Bowl as proof that it’s possible to make a stadium event fairly trouble-free.

“If they can get 90,000 people in and out for soccer games, there’s no reason for us to have problems with 65,000,” says Murphy.
