Grizzlies Rally to Topple the Splash

Bernie Lilavois scored four second-half goals to lead the San Jose Grizzlies to a 13-9 victory over the Splash in a Continental Indoor Soccer League game in front of 3,539 Saturday night at the San Jose Arena.

The Splash, which defeated the Grizzlies, 10-3, earlier this year, outshot the Grizzlies, 44-33, and were leading at halftime, 6-4. But San Jose scored the next four goals to take the lead, 8-6.

The Splash battled back to tie the score, 8-8, on Raffaele Ruotolo’s goal at 5:53.

Lilavois added his third goal at 8:44 to put San Jose ahead. The teams traded goals to tie the score, 10-10, but the Grizzlies put it away with three goals.

The Splash’s Denis Hamlett had two goals and forward Rod Castro scored a goal to extend his scoring streak to eight games.

Dale Ervine, who had three goals in the first game between the teams, was held scoreless despite taking 11 shots.

The Splash dropped to 6-2.
