Blockbuster Park Clears Hurdle: Despite protests from environmentalists, Blockbuster Entertainment Corp. Chairman H. Wayne Huizenga won permission from two Florida counties to levy taxes and use other quasi-governmental powers so he can build a giant theme park in south Florida. The Dade and Broward county commissions approved Blockbuster’s proposal to create a special government district for its 2,400 acres. Final approval of the plan is still several months off.
