Hard Court Tennis Event Starts Today
The Men’s National 50-50 Hard Court tennis championships will begin today at the Lindborg Racquet Club.
The tournament gets under way with singles play today. Doubles start Tuesday.
The draw will have 64 players entered in singles and 32 teams in doubles in each of the two age divisions. Semifinals will be Friday with singles finals on Saturday and doubles finals on Sunday.
James Parker of Houston is the top-seeded player in the 50-and-over singles division. Alex Olmeda of Los Angeles is seeded No. 1 in 55 singles. Parker and Ken Robinson of San Carlos are seeded first in 50 doubles. Jim Nelson of Irvine and Bob Duesler of Newport Beach are the top-seeded team in 55 doubles.
The event is sanctioned by the U.S. Tennis Assn.
