BRETTSCHNEIDER SEEKS AFTER-’LIFE’

“One Life to Live” fans will have to say goodby to Mark Brettschneider, who plays Jason Webb. The show had no front-burner story line planned for the actor, who has decided to move on. Brettschneider’s exit date is scheduled for August 5.

In the story line, Jason’s December-May romance with Dorian Lord (Robin Strasser) was interesting for a time but fizzled. Most recently, Jason was becoming involved with unwed mother Beth Garvey (Dorothy Barton), but Beth died during a killer flu epidemic.

In the meantime, Delphi Harrington will return to “One Life to Live” in her former role of Aunt Kiki, the aunt of Marty Saybrooke (Susan Haskell), and Ryan Phillippe has reprised his former role of Billy Douglas. Susan Pellagrino has also returned in the role of Billy’s mother, Virginia Douglas.

Christopher Douglas will make his daytime debut on “One Life to Live” mid-August in the role of Dylan Moody, brother of Luna Moody Holden (Susan Batten).

Douglas has made appearances on the nighttime series “Burke’s Law,” “Married ... With Children,” “Saved By the Bell” and “Red Shoe Diaries.”

Television time around the household of Lynn Herring (Lucy Coe on “General Hospital”) and Wayne Northrup (Roman Brady on “Days of Our Lives”) is limited when it comes to their 3-year-old son, Hank. The tyke is only allowed to watch two hours of television a day.

“I just don’t like Hank to watch too much TV,” says Herring. “So I came up with this plan. He gets to pick his shows--they’re usually on the Disney Channel.”

Herring has some definite reasons for her strict TV policy. “I think kids’ little brains get fried if they watch television all the time,” she says. “They don’t play outside as much, so they’re not as physically active. Plus, their imaginations suffer, too--they don’t expand and grow like they should.”

Herring also recently took time out from her busy “General Hospital” schedule to tape a public-service announcement for the Defenders Of Wildlife organization.

Mark McEwen, weather reporter and entertainment editor of “CBS This Morning,” is scheduled to make several guest appearances on “Guiding Light” in mid-July. McEwen will play the host of “Soulmates,” a game show within the soap.
