CHATSWORTH : Rescue Group Seeks Owners of 2 Lost Dogs

Share

In a last-ditch effort, a dog rescue outfit from the Lucerne Valley is circulating flyers to San Fernando Valley veterinarians hoping to find the original owners of two dogs that have been homeless since the January earthquake.

In February, several dogs scheduled to be put to sleep were rescued from the Chatsworth Animal Shelter by the Life Is For Everything Foundation of Lucerne Valley, a nonprofit animal rescue organization. Attempts to reunite the animals with their families were unsuccessful.

The LIFE group adopted them and placed them in foster homes, intended for temporary care only. Two of the dogs, which have been renamed Red and Valentino, are among the animals that remain in foster care.

Red is a golden retriever-German shepherd mix with a thick, reddish coat. He is blind in one eye and more than 5 years old. Valentino is an 8-year-old German shepherd-Siberian husky mix.

The foundation said that both dogs show signs of coming from loving homes, and that Valentino may have had some obedience training.

If the original owners do not reclaim the animals, the dogs will remain with their foster family.

Anyone with information on the whereabouts of the owners may contact the LIFE Foundation, Lucerne Valley Substation, P.O. Box 1350, Lucerne Valley 92356.
