SANTA CLARITA — A robber made off with “several bundles of $20 bills” Thursday from an American Savings Bank branch, sheriff’s deputies said.
A man entered the bank in the 23000 block of Lyons Avenue and told a teller, “Give me the money or you’re dead,” said Sgt. Rick Doan of the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station.
Doan said the robber--a white man in his late 20s, 6 feet tall, weighing 175 pounds with reddish-brown hair and mustache--held his hands in such a way as to suggest that he had a weapon, but none was seen.
The man left the bank on foot, ran across Lyons Avenue and headed north into a residential area. Sheriff’s deputies, working with three police dogs and a helicopter, were unable to track him.
Doan said the exact amount of money taken had not been determined.
