Bowl Attendance

Share

Contrary to the suggestion of Daniel Cariaga in his review (“Bamert Inspires Quality Performance,” July 23), attendance is not down at the Hollywood Bowl this summer. Despite the oft-rehashed woes of our area, business at the Bowl is actually up 5% over last year. Subscriptions have held steady--an improved trend contradicting industrywide experiences--and single-ticket sales are increasing significantly for all events. In fact, we are projecting a record summer at the Bowl with our second year of million-plus attendance.

This clearly reflects both a great desire for music and a recognition that it can be found--affordably and in the widest possible variety--at the Hollywood Bowl. The Philharmonic is delighted with this achievement. We are proud of our artists and staff and happy that more people than ever are turning to L.A.’s music oasis for their summer art and entertainment.
