Phone Chatter Comes Back as a Winner
Phone Chatter, last year’s 2-year-old filly champion, made her first start in 10 months Thursday and rallied from last to win the $55,600 C.E.R.F. Stakes by a length over Airistar at Del Mar.
Ridden by Laffit Pincay and carrying 117 pounds, Phone Chatter covered 6 1/2 furlongs in 1:15. She paid $3, $2.60, $2.20.
Airistar returned $4 and $3, while Klassy Kim, another half-length back in third, was $3.20 to show.
Phone Chatter hadn’t competed since fracturing her hind leg while winning the Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Fillies on Nov. 6. She won the Eclipse Award as the nation’s top 2-year-old filly.
