Offspring’s “Smash” has been a Southern California smash for some time, residing at the upper levels of The Times pop album chart--No. 3 this week. But the Orange County band’s album is also doing well nationally, climbing into the Top 10, at No. 10. This could be the one that cracks the soundtrack barrier at the top of the Southern California chart, where “The Lion King” and “Forrest Gump” have been 1-2 for weeks. Neil Young’s album “Sleeps With Angels,” which is getting rave reviews, is off to a fast start with fans too, debuting at No. 5 on the Southern California pop chart.
