OUTLOOK
The Falcons again will try to reach the playoffs for the first time since 1979. They finished with a .500 record last season for the first time since 1981, but finished a half game behind Canyon for the last playoff spot. The Falcons can get there this season if they get Cherrington some help. He gained 1,234 yards against defenses geared to stop him. Cherrington rushed for 327 yards and four touchdowns against Dana Hills. But the Falcons’ passing game didn’t complement him. That will have to change for Valley to advance. That’s where Trujillo comes in. Elsewhere, the Falcons have size and speed. So a little offensive balance can take them a long way.
