OUTLOOK

Century, which comes to the Empire League from the Pacific Coast, is expected to contend for third place with Loara and Cypress. Brown says his team will rely on a balanced attack, though much of it will depend on Villanueva, who threw only six touchdowns last season but suffered 12 interceptions. “He’s a much more mature quarterback,” Brown said. Vega, Armendariz and Rodriguez are among the club’s top receivers. Wallace and Villegas will give Century a good running game, but the Centurions’ lack of size, depth and overall team speed present problems. “We’re not going to blow people away with our speed, but we can (compete),” Brown said. “Our receivers can catch the ball and that’s our biggest threat. Our explosiveness will come from them.”
