As far as debuts go, Ted Clarke’s was somewhat forgettable.

Clarke, who took over as football coach at Glendale High early in the summer, watched his Dynamiters lose to Alhambra, 28-14, Thursday night at Glendale.

Alhambra broke out to a 21-0 first-half lead and coasted in the nonleague opener.

Moor quarterback Aryn Hart completed nine of 13 passes for 160 yards and a pair of touchdowns to Danny Harrison.

“The combination of our youth and (playing against) a good passing team, that’s tough,” Clarke said.

Glendale was also flagged 11 times for 95 yards in penalties.

“That was a coaching problem,” Clarke said. “There’s also some youth in the coach.”

After Alhambra’s quick start, the game was never in question.

Moor running back Patrick Nieves complemented Hart’s passing with 87 yards in eight carries.

His 46-yard touchdown run gave Alhambra a 14-0 first-quarter lead. Nieves also returned the second-half kickoff 82 yards for a touchdown and a 28-6 lead.

Backup running back Jason Klintworth paced Glendale with 86 yards in nine carries.

The Dynamiters rebounded from the Moors’ third touchdown when Benjamin Malen returned the ensuing kickoff 87 yards for a touchdown.

However, Nieves’ return to open the third quarter sealed it.

The Moors ran only six plays in the first quarter, but rolled up 115 total yards and a 14-0 lead.

On their third play from scrimmage, quarterback Hart connected with wide-open receiver Danny Harrison on a 24-yard touchdown play.

After Nieves’ scoring run late in the quarter, Hart and Harrison combined for a score in the second quarter, this one measuring 14 yards.

Glendale answered when Malen broke free, but the extra point was blocked by Mike Navarrette, and the Dynamiters trailed, 21-6.

After Nieves’ return made it 28-6, Glendale running back Mauricio Pena scored on a two-yard run late in the game and Klintworth added a two-point conversion to close out the scoring.
