COLLEGE FOOTBALL DAILY REPORT : AROUND THE NATION : Alcorn State’s McNair Is Back on Track
Alcorn State quarterback Steve McNair, who is trying to become the first Division I-AA player to win the Heisman Trophy, is expected to play Saturday against Mississippi Valley State. The senior suffered a slight shoulder separation in the fourth quarter of a 48-23 loss to Sam Houston State at Huntsville, Tex., last Saturday.

With Nebraska’s Frazier still hospitalized, coach Tom Osborne was hopeful the second-ranked Cornhuskers would not lose their quarterback for the remainder of the season.
Frazier was undergoing treatment to dissolve a blood clot behind his right knee. The junior quarterback probably will remain hospitalized at least a few more days, Osborne said.
“Tommie Frazier is one of those people I’m positive will not play this week,” Osborne said. “I don’t think it’s a done deal that he’ll miss the rest of the season necessarily.”

Texas receiver Mike Adams, who sat out the first game of the season for violating NCAA rules, will be sidelined at least three weeks because of a knee injury.
