COMMUNITY COLLEGE ROUNDUP : Rancho Santiago Defeats Cerritos

David Vega led Rancho Santiago with six goals as the Dons defeated Cerritos, 17-12, in a nonconference water polo game Wednesday at Rancho Santiago.

Rancho Santiago led, 14-7, at the end of the third quarter but Cerritos started to make a comeback, scoring five goals in the fourth quarter. However, goalie Mike Gonzalez, who had 19 saves, made some crucial saves to keep Cerritos down.

Rancho Santiago improved to 8-6. Cerritos is 4-6.

In Orange Empire Conference women’s volleyball:

Orange Coast 3, Cypress 0--Amy Wilson had 10 kills for OCC (4-3, 2-0), which won, 15-9, 15-9, 15-1.

Saddleback 3, Riverside 2--Janice Bill had 18 kills and Lori Bowers added 15 for Saddleback (6-0, 2-0), which won, 15-12, 11-15, 13-15, 15-12, 15-10.

Southern California College 3, Cal State Dominguez Hills 1--Genevie Wright had 10 kills and added four aces as SCC beat Cal State Dominguez Hills, 15-10, 15-0, 13-15, 15-9.

In South Coast Conference wrestling:

Mt. San Antonio 35, Golden West 12--Robert Vasquez, wrestling at 274 pounds, pinned Robert Molina of Mt. San Antonio in 1 minute 58 seconds and teammate Dan Brown (190 pounds) pinned Darren Hill in 1:30 to give Golden West its only points of the match. Golden West is 4-6, 0-2.
