Man Hospitalized After Being Shot
A man was in stable condition at UCI Medical Center in Orange Sunday after being shot in the chest earlier in the day, police said.
Abundio Garcia Gonzales, 25, of Huntington Beach, was shot several times by an unknown assailant with a handgun at 2:25 a.m., said Lt. Jim Cutshaw of the Huntington Beach Police Department.
Cutshaw said police were notified of shots being fired in the street on Queens Lane north of Slater Avenue. When they arrived at the scene, they were told that Gonzales had been rushed to Huntington Beach Medical Center by friends. Gonzales was then taken by ambulance to UCI Medical Center, Cutshaw said.
“We have no description of any suspect at this time,” said Cutshaw, adding that details of the shooting were unclear. “The suspect fled and no vehicle was seen or heard,” he said. “The investigation is ongoing. We have no motive.”
