Share

A carload of suspected gang members chased three Simi Valley high school youths in another vehicle and fired a handgun at them, striking their car, Simi Valley police said Tuesday. The students, a 17-year-old and two 16-year-olds, were approaching Erringer Road from eastbound Patricia Avenue about 3 a.m. Sunday when the confrontation occurred, Lt. Tony Harper said.

The other car, a small, dark-colored vehicle, pulled alongside and several occupants flashed gang signs at the students, who are not involved with gangs, Harper said.

To avoid conflict, the students drove away but were followed by the other car, from which someone subsequently fired a handgun, Harper said. The students’ car was struck once.
