An 18-year-old Santa Ana man will be arraigned Nov. 4 on involuntary manslaughter and child abuse charges filed after his girlfriend’s daughter died of head trauma, a prosecutor said Wednesday.
Celerino A. Ochoa was arrested Saturday shortly after 18-month-old Carina Ramirez died of head injuries she suffered the day before, officials said.
Charges in the case were filed Tuesday, and the arraignment was postponed until next month.
Deputy Dist. Atty. David L. Brent said Wednesday that authorities are still investigating the child’s death.
Ochoa is being held at the Central Men’s Jail in lieu of $100,000.
