Mt. SAC Cross-Country Meet Begins Today

The nation’s largest high school cross-country event, the 46th Mt. San Antonio College Invitational, begins today and continues Saturday on the college’s campus in Walnut.
Today’s competition, which features Division III and IV schools, begins at 2:45 p.m. Saturday’s races, featuring Division I and II schools, begin at 8 a.m.
La Habra, ranked No. 7 in the Orange County sportswriters’ poll, Newport Harbor (No. 8) and El Modena (No. 10) will be featured in the boys’ Division III race today at 5:20 p.m. The Division III girls’ race, which begins at 5:40, features El Modena (No. 6), Foothill and Newport Harbor.
Saturday’s sweepstakes boys’ race, which will be run at 9:30 a.m., features the state’s top teams regardless of division. County entrants include Santa Ana Valley (No. 4), Santa Ana (No. 5), Edison and Saddleback.
The girls’ sweepstakes race, at 10:30, is highlighted by the county’s top four ranked teams--No. 1 Irvine, No. 2 El Toro, No. 3 Esperanza and No. 4 Edison--plus No. 10 Santa Ana Valley.
